Atrium hires Munich Re’s Cusition to marine team
Atrium Underwriting has announced the appointment of Michael Cusition as marine underwriter, as it seeks to rebuild its marine team following a string of departures.
Cusition joins Atrium from Munich Re, where he held the position of underwriter of marine and energy liabilities.
Prior to this, he spent four years as assistant underwriter at XL Catlin, where he began his underwriting career. At Atrium he will report to David Sankey, head of marine.
Sankey said: “Michael has spent the last nine years building a reputation as a quality underwriter, making him a valuable asset to Atrium’s team and I look forward to working with him closely as we continue to drive profitable expansion across our marine business.”
The appointment marks another hire to the marine division at Atrium following turnover within the team.
Axa XL’s former global head of hull Mike MacColl has now taken up a position as head of marine hull and war at Atrium, as previously revealed by this publication.
He joined Atrium following a number of departures from the carrier’s marine team, with hull underwriters Richard Tomlin and Kelly Gallagher having both left the business to join Convex.
