Extreme flooding in Western Europe in mid-July has generated the largest industry loss figure so far in 2021, at an estimated $11bn, according to Cresta’s Q3 Clix industry loss index.

The floods occurred between 12 to 18 July 2021 and mainly affected Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

Austria, France, Switzerland and the United Kingdom were also affected, but to a much lesser extent.
