RMS estimates total Ida loss at $31bn to $44bn with northern flood claims

Modeling agency RMS estimates that Hurricane Ida will cost the industry between $31bn and $44bn in total insured claims – including onshore and offshore losses and up to $6bn of public insured losses – in an update from its original Gulf of Mexico (GoM) estimate.

The model vendor said earlier this month it estimated GoM losses to cost between $25bn to $35bn. The new figure includes a prediction of between $6bn and $9bn in insured flood losses from “precipitation-induced flooding” that hit the Atlantic...
