RMS has estimated insured losses from Hurricane Ida will reach $25bn-$35bn, a range that includes onshore claims in the US as well as offshore losses in the Gulf of Mexico.

The cat risk solutions provider’s estimate also includes losses to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) in the four impacted Gulf Coast states - Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi - in the range of $2.3bn
