Insured losses from recent flooding in Germany will probably be around the upper end of the German Insurance Association’s (GDV) EUR4.5bn-EUR5.5bn ($5.3bn-$6.4bn) estimate according to its CEO Jörg Asmussen, who made the comments in Berlin on Wednesday.

Asmussen said that 190,000 claims were expected, with a split of 160,000 for the private and 30,000 for the commercial sectors.
