Axa XL’s turnaround in performance has come about thanks to its simplified leadership structure, clarity of strategy and high underwriting discipline, according to Axa CEO Thomas Buberl.

The executive said he was “very happy” with the results posted by Axa XL in the first half, in which it recorded a profit of EUR619mn ($725mn), after having been battered by Covid-19 claims in the prior-year period.
