Mapfre Re swings to Q2 profit of EUR50.3mn

Mapfre has reported a Q2 net profit of EUR50.3mn for its reinsurance segment, compared with a EUR22.3mn loss in the same period last year, as the unit’s combined ratio improved by nearly 10 percentage points.

Mapfre Re underwriting: The segment reported a combined ratio of 94.6%, a 9.8% improvement on Q2 2020’s 104.4%. The movement was driven by a much-improved loss ratio of 63%, down 11.9
