First-half cat losses above median at $36bn: Aon

Preliminary insured cat losses during the first half of 2021 were $36bn, above the median for the last decade of $33bn but below the average of $41bn, according to Aon.

In its July Reinsurance Market Outlook report, the intermediary said most of the losses in the first half were due to the Texas Big Freeze and US convective storm events.
