Analysts quizzed Travelers today about the carrier’s move to acquire a stake in Fidelis, with the company playing down the suggestions that the deal heralded a wider expansion into reinsurance.

Last week, the firm announced it had made the investment in the specialty (re)insurer, and the two parties provided little detail on the deal besides indicating it was a "strategic minority investment".
