Fitch: Severe floods could add 5 pts to German carriers’ combined ratios

The extreme flooding in Germany could deteriorate the combined ratios of German non-life insurers by as much as 5 percentage points, according to Fitch.

The ratings agency noted that the insured losses from the flooding were likely to be Germany’s highest for a natural disaster since the widespread flooding in 2002, which generated claims of EUR4.5bn
