Spectator-free Olympics to cost reinsurers up to $400mn: Fitch

The decision by Japanese authorities to host the Olympic Games without spectators is likely to cost the reinsurance sector between $300mn and $400mn, according to estimates released by Fitch.

The ratings agency said the crowd rules, implemented because of the Covid-19 pandemic, would result in payouts from ticket and hospitality refunds.
