A storm system that is expected to become Tropical Storm Claudette is set to make landfall on the central Gulf Coast as the weekend approaches, with four to eight inches of rain forecast, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

The NHC has put in place a tropical storm warning for the coastline from Morgan City, Louisiana up to Walton County in the Florida Panhandle, encompassing the metropolitan New Orleans area.
