Canada’s Intact Financial and Denmark’s Tryg are to sell non-life insurer Codan to Danish financial services company Alm. Brand for 12.6bn Danish kroner ($2.1bn), just days after the close of the sellers’ joint takeover of RSA.

Intact said the proceeds would be split 50:50.

The Canadian group noted that it would use its share of the funds to repay short-term debt raised to acquire RSA and for general corporate purposes.
