Hotels fail to force disclosure of Lloyd’s emails in Besso broker misconduct suit

A group of hotels locked in a court battle with Besso to reclaim $10mn in “inflated” fees arranged by a former broker nicknamed “the pirate of the Caribbean” has lost a legal bid to force the disclosure of documents relating to his misconduct, including correspondence with Lloyd’s.

The Caribbean-based hotel companies had made the request as part of an ongoing case, in which they’re alleging they paid elevated brokerage fees due to the way former Besso broker Charles O’Sullivan structured the payments.
