GIC Re slashed agri business by 45% after AM Best downgrade

Indian reinsurer GIC Re has slashed the agricultural premium it writes by 45% since its AM Best downgrade last year in a bid to restore its A- rating.

In an interview with this publication, chairman and managing director Devesh Shrivastava said the carrier had undertaken “huge pruning” of its agricultural book following the June downgrade to B++.
