NZ EQC’s 2010-11 Canterbury quake sequence losses deepen

New Zealand’s Earthquake Commission (EQC) has informed reinsurers of deterioration on its losses for the 2010-11 Christchurch earthquake sequence, this publication can reveal.

The EQC confirmed that its loss for the quake that struck in September 2010 (referred to as EQ1) has increased by NZ$230mn ($167mn), while for the February 2011 earthquake (EQ2) the loss has decreased by NZ$42mn.
