UK P&I Club disputes $916mn Suez Canal Authority claim

The UK P&I Club has queried a “largely unsupported” $916mn claim made by the Suez Canal Authority over the incident which led to the canal being blocked for six days by a stranded ship.

The canal authority made the claim against the owners of the containership Ever Given, which included a $300mn claim for what it called salvage bonus and a $300mn claim for loss of reputation.
