Apollo has appointed group casualty head and Syndicate 1971 active underwriter Matt Newman to the newly created position of group chief strategy and innovation officer.

He will retain his existing roles and work with group CEO David Ibeson, group CUO James Slaughter and the executive team to develop growth, innovation and partnership initiatives.
