Rate growth diverges within profitable upstream segment: Willis

The upstream energy market is moving to a “two-tiered” rating environment as underwriters look to address poorly performing elements of an overall profitable line of business, according to Willis Towers Watson.

The broker said in its energy review that the overall modest rating uplift in upstream prices masked more dramatic rating movements in certain parts of the portfolio, with offshore construction business attracting some of the largest rate rises.
