Hiscox 33 falls to $86mn loss in 2020 after $209mn Covid-19 claims

Hiscox Syndicate 33 reported a loss of $86mn for 2020 and a combined ratio of 113%, as Covid-19 losses of $209mn eclipsed an overall improved performance within property, casualty and reinsurance.

The results marked a deterioration from 2019, when the business reported a $24.9mn loss and a 109% combined ratio.
