Suncorp anticipates that recent flooding in the Australian states of New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria will result in net claims of between A$230mn and A$250mn ($175mn and $190mn).

The Australian carrier expects the majority of the claims to be attributed to a single event for reinsurance purposes, and said the cost of the event would be capped at A$250mn under the group’s catastrophe reinsurance programme.
