The marine market is braced for a substantial and complex loss across protection and indemnity (P&I), hull, and cargo stemming from the massive disruption caused by the grounding of the Ever Given container carrier in the Suez Canal, Insurance Insider understands.

The current situation is highly uncertain, with the ship still blocking one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes amid a large-scale salvage operation, but sources said that the largest impact is expected to be felt by the P&I market.
