UK whiplash reforms slated for end-May start date

The UK government confirmed on Friday that new whiplash reforms would come into force on 31 May as it published details about how the new claims portal will work.

The new portal involves fixed tariffs for low-value road traffic accident claims.

The compensation limit for these claims rises to £5,000 ($6,961) from £1,000, while making or accepting offers to settle a whiplash claim without a medical report is barred.
