Hiscox promotes Taylor to manage marine liability team

Hiscox has promoted Emily Taylor to the position of line underwriter for marine and energy liability, with management responsibilities for a team of four underwriters.

Taylor joined Hiscox in March last year from Axa XL, where she was a class underwriter for energy liability.

She will report to divisional director for marine, energy and specialty Mike Southgate and be based in London.

The appointment follows the news that marine and energy liability underwriter Phil Furlong is due to leave the business to join expansive syndicate ERS.

Southgate said that the appointment was part of a drive to bring through a new generation of underwriters to drive innovation.

“As a lead market, Hiscox has a significant book of marine and energy liability business and we will continue to build on that solid base, offering our clients and brokers deep technical underwriting expertise in a rapidly evolving marketplace,” he said.

Taylor added: “At Hiscox we specialise in complex, diverse and large liability accounts and will be looking to selectively grow our portfolio in these key areas.”
