Chaucer confirms takeover approach: Amlin thought likely

Lloyd’s insurer Chaucer Holdings plc has confirmed that it has received an indicative takeover approach “which may or may not lead to an offer being made”. Although Chaucer did not name a suitor, fellow Lloyd’s insurer Amlin plc has been linked, according to Reuters.

Shares in Chaucer climbed 7 percent today, from yesterday’s close of 60.5p to 65p, on the London Stock Exchange. Since a 41p low in October last year, the share price has climbed upwards in recent months.
