Guy Carpenter chairman to join Aon
Geoff Bromley, the chairman of Guy Carpenter’s European and Asian operations, is to join Aon, The Insurance Insider can reveal.
Bromley, who resigned from the MMC firm earlier this week, is to join the firm once his notice period is complete.
He will become the head of Aon Re International, which vies with Guy Carpenter for the title of the world’s largest reinsurance broker.
It will become another high profile reinsurance move for the Chicago-headquartered firm following the defection of Benfield’s facultative team, led by Elliot Richardson last year.
Publishing its interim results earlier this week, Aon cited “strong growth of facultative placements” for the 4 percent organic growth in its reinsurance division which lifted its second quarter reinsurance revenues to $234mn.
The highly regarded Bromley has effectively spent over twenty years with Guy Carpenter after joining its predecessor company CT Bowring in 1983. He originally qualified as a barrister in his native Australia and has also previously worked for Swiss Re.
