Kiln underwriter joins Peleus Re

Andrew Carrier, the former active underwriter of Kiln’s Lloyd’s Syndicate 557 and the reinsurance division of its Syndicate 510, will join Bermudian firm Peleus Re later this year.

Peleus Re, which was created by the reverse merger deal of US insurer Argonaut Group and the distressed Bermudian retro writer PXRE earlier this year, confirmed yesterday (7 August) that Carrier will take up the post of president at the firm.

Carrier’s left Kiln after 23 years at the insurer in June as it announced a management reshuffle following its recent redomicile to Bermuda and the formation of Kiln Ltd, its new holding company.

Mark Watson III, president and CEO of Peleus’ holding company Argo Group said: “Andrew joins us at an exciting time in our development and brings a wealth of international experience and perspective to our management team. His understanding of global markets in general and the London and Bermuda markets in particular will be of significant value as we develop a sustainable and profitable global business platform.”

Argo Group also announced the appointment of Barbara Bufkin as senior vice president, Corporate Business Development.
