ABR Re, a joint venture of Chubb and BlackRock, has hired QBE Re’s Sean Ramlal to serve as underwriting director.
The Bermuda-based reinsurer,launched by Ace and BlackRock in 2015, brought Ramlal on board in November, according to Ramlal’s LinkedIn profile.
Ramlal most recently served as vice president and treaty underwriter for QBE Re, where he managed the company’s casualty and professional liability reinsurance team. Before that he worked at Allied World Re, CNA Insurance and Platinum Re, according to LinkedIn.
At ABR Re, Ramlal is responsible for all aspects of underwriting for the reinsurer’s global reinsurance treaty portfolio for all lines.
ABR Re was launched by BlackRock and Ace using $800mn of capital raised through a private placement. Ace acquired Chubb in 2016 and took on the company’s name.
