Allianz and Swiss Re have placed a legally binding cat excess-of-loss (XoL) reinsurance contract on blockchain technology in a placement described as a “world first” by the software company that enabled it.

B3i said the placement covers one of Allianz’s core cat reinsurance contracts, including key submission parts, final terms and contractual clauses binding to both carriers.
