Covid reinsurance arbitration on the horizon: Mapfre Re’s Pérez de Lema

The issue of Covid-19 BI claims is “not over yet”, and disputes between cedants and reinsurers are highly likely to descend into arbitration, according to Mapfre Re CEO Eduardo Pérez de Lema.

The executive said there remained “a lot of pending things to be discussed on aggregations” and that, in many instances, cedants and reinsurers were yet to establish how contracts would respond to claims.
