Aspen Re has promoted Jamie Lewis to head of London and global product head for specialty reinsurance with immediate effect.
He replaces Peter Emblin who previously held both roles and, after two years in London, has returned to the US. There, he will continue as senior managing director for Aspen Re.
Lewis will retain his role of deputy active underwriter of Syndicate 4711 and also continue to oversee the Aspen Re London casualty team.
He will be supported by head of marine, energy and terrorism Jonathan Davey to lead Aspen Re’s specialty reinsurance global product strategy, and will report to Christian Dunleavy, CUO of Aspen Re and CEO and CUO of Aspen Bermuda.
Lewis joined Aspen in November 2013 after holding roles at Ironshore, RenaissanceRe Bermuda and Willis.
Earlier this week The Insurance Insider revealed that Jonathan Ritz, most recently CEO of Validus’ US insurance operations, had been appointed president of Aspen.
Ritz’ appointment to the vacant president role makes him heir presumptive to current executive chairman and CEO Mark Cloutier.
The executive moves come after Apollo closed its takeover of Aspen in February.
