Paul Summers, head of international facultative reinsurance at Guy Carpenter, has resigned to take up the role of head of international facultative at McGill & Partners, The Insurance Insider can reveal.

Guy Carpenter places more than $1.6bn of facultative reinsurance across the globe, and the international team is headed by Summers in London.

Summers is one of the most high-profile fac brokers in the London market, and reports to US-based John Trace, who is global head of facultative.

Summers joined Guy Carpenter in his current position in 2015 with more than 20 years’ experience in the fac market, having previously served as global CEO of Aon Benfield’s fac division for three years.

He is the latest in a long line of high-profile broking talent to be lured to Steve McGill’s eponymous broking start-up, which is to be headquartered in Lloyd’s.

The move comes after this publication revealed earlier this week that four fac partners from the former JLT team had been hired by Besso.

McGill & Partners declined to comment. Guy Carpenter could not be reached for a request for comment at the time of publication.
