Following any major loss event, the great debate always recurs: how interconnected is the global insurance industry?

The "one planet" camp sees the insurance boat floating on a vast ocean of global capital. It believes that if capital is extracted in one part of the world it affects the level of the whole ocean.

Thus, capital shortages in Florida should eventually be felt as far away as Japan. Classes and territories that don't play ball will be starved of capital...
