US: Starr took too long to dispute AIG bailout

The US government is arguing that ex-American International Group (AIG) head Maurice "Hank" Greenberg and Starr International should have objected to the $85bn AIG bailout when it happened in 2008 and not waited over three years to sue.

The US government has replied to the lawsuit in a 30 July filing. It comes after a federal judge recently ruled that Greenberg and his company Starr could pursue a $25bn case on behalf of AIG shareholders against the US Treasury Department,...
