Reinsurers were billed an extra $100mn last month by the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) in relation to a mass of litigation that has reopened claims from Hurricane Ike in 2008.
Meanwhile, TWIA has also told reinsurers that it now expects the ultimate loss from Ike to exhaust the $1.5bn excess of $600mn coverage bought ahead of the 2008 hurricane season.
