AM Best and Conning Research & Consulting have predicted a
troubled 2010 for the US property and casualty (P&C) insurance
industry, as softening rates, anaemic investment returns and
dwindling reserve releases erode profitability.
In its annual sector report, AM Best said that the plenty of 2009
would not continue into 2010.
The rating agency expected the US P&C industry's return
measures to be strained throughout the year, as there appear to be
few signs of market hardening across the board...
