IT wasn't much of a struggle to tell who was in charge. The accoutrements of office offered useful clues (the private jet, the 48-room mansion, the lustrous head of hair); so did the easy familiarity with at least one US President. But it was the relish for battle that really defined the CEO. That, and the indifference to the sort of setbacks with which all great men must contend, perhaps especially self-made men who amass a billion dollars or two...
