Private equity firm Stone Point Capital is at the head of the consortium to buy Transatlantic Holdings that also includes JC Flowers and Enstar, The Insurance Insider can reveal.
According to sources, the consortium has made an all cash bid for the US reinsurer in excess of $60 a share, which would put it ahead of the recently improved cash and stock offer from rival Validus.
