Standard & Poor's (S&P) has raised its outlook on Swiss Re to positive, edging the reinsurer closer to restoring its coveted AA rating.
S&P analysts said the upgrade reflected the strength of the recovery from the bottom of the financial crisis and the effectiveness of the reinsurer's de-risking exercise.
The ratings agency affirmed the financial strength rating of the Zurich-based company and its core operating entities at A+. It also raised Swiss Re's outlook from stable to positive.
