Marketform posts £90mn loss due to Italian med mal

Lloyd's insurer Marketform has reported a £90mn loss for 2009, on the back of a sharp deterioration in the claims record of its Italian public hospital medical malpractice (med mal) book.

The annual results release for Syndicate 2468, which Marketform manages, showed adverse claims developments relating to this account fuelling a loss of £90.5mn - of which £78mn is attributable to the 2007 year of account.
