Lloyd's has disclosed a preliminary loss estimate of $600mn for the outbreaks of tornadoes in the US throughout April and May.

CEO Richard Ward revealed the ultimate loss forecast as the Corporation reported a pre-tax loss of £697mn for the first six months of the year.

In April and May the US suffered the most serious outbreak of tornadoes in its history. One of the worst outbreaks, between 22 and 28 April, centred on Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and claimed 344 lives...
