Typhoon Melor, which made landfall as a category one storm in
Japan during October, has resulted in incurred claims of Yen55bn
($617mn), according to an announcement by the General Insurance
Association of Japan last week.
The association's report on 25 insurers in the country finds
that the majority of claims (Yen37.6bn) came from fire insurance,
with marine insurers receiving claims totaling Yen8.1bn and motor
insurers Yen6.2bn.
