A series of decisions made by BP in the two weeks leading up to the Macondo blowout compromised the integrity of the well, and compounded the likelihood of its failure, according to an internal report released by Deepwater Horizon rig owner Transocean today (22 June).
As the well operator, BP was culpable for a succession of well design, construction and temporary abandonment decisions which ultimately lead to the blowout, the report said.
