Europe's third-largest insurance group Assicurazioni Generali has confirmed that company chairman, Cesare Geronzi has resigned its board "in the greater interest of the company".
In a short statement the company said that Geronzi had decided to step down "as a result of the situation that has developed owing to differences that prevent his involvement in Generali".
