Former Marsh executive William Gilman has sued Eliot Spitzer and The Slate Group LLC for $60mn alleging defamation in a magazine article written by the ex-New York attorney general.
Gilman said that Spitzer, in response to a Wall Street Journal article critical of his investigation into industry practices including alleged bid-rigging, had in a Slate.com article indicated that Gilman was guilty of crimes.
