Specialty property and casualty (re)insurer Endurance has estimated its likely losses from the 11 March Tohoku earthquake and tsunami at around $125mn.
The loss estimate is before tax and net of reinsurance and reinstatement premiums.
The figure represents around 4.4 percent of stated shareholder equity as of 31 December 2010, although the firm has announced completed share buybacks of at least $338.1mn subsequent to that date.
