Buffett hires hedge fund manager to handle Berkshire investments

Berkshire Hathaway has appointed Todd Combs from the hedge fund sector as an investment manager, marking further progress in the succession planning for Warren Buffett.

Billionaire investor Buffett said that he and his vice-chairman Charlie Munger had been looking for someone of Combs' calibre to manage a significant portion of the firm's investment portfolio for the past three years.

Buffett, known as "the sage of Omaha", has signalled previously that his role will be split into two when he departs...
