Aquiline buys Armour and capitalises new $500mn entity

Private equity house Aquiline has struck a deal to acquire Bermuda-based legacy manager Armour Holdings and will fold the business into a newly capitalised $500mn vehicle operating under the same brand, The Insurance Insider can reveal.

The application to establish the new Bermudian reinsurance entity, which will be backed by Aquiline and limited partners, is in its advanced stages, sources said.

Validus, the Bermudian (re)insurer that Aquiline was lead sponsor for, is understood to be among the investors.
