Appeal court halts Stanford D&O defence payout

There is no cheque in the post yet for lawyers representing Allen Stanford and three former Stanford Financial Group (SFG) executives, after a US appeal court halted a district judge's decision to compel payments under a directors' and officers' (D&O) policy and ordered an expedited hearing.

The judges scheduled an appeal hearing for 25 February in New Orleans and blocked an order made at the start of February by Judge Hittner, which had compelled Arch Specialty and five Lloyd's insurers...
