In its 1 January renewals report Aon Benfield stuck to its undertaking not to make public statements on rate movements, which was made at the Monte Carlo Rendez-Vous in September.
While Willis Re said that US nationwide programmes were pricing up by 2.5 to 10 percent and European contracts were up 1-4 percent, Aon Benfield restricted itself to talking about the macro backdrop to the renewal process.
The outlook for supply and demand was the cornerstone of its report.
